Even when you're alone.. or not: Kissing by Bliss

I love 'alone-time' songs. Those songs that you listen to when all you've got is your mp3 player. Alone time songs can't be listened to when its crowded or noisy, it has to be you, and you alone. (hence ALONE time) Although overplayed and overrated, I have to admit, Imogen Heap's Hide and Seek is one of them. Perfect when you're alone with nothing else to distract your ears but the steady sound of her voice in your head.
Another song is 'Kissing' by Bliss. To me its got that heavenly sound to it, easy to listen to, and it actually pulls on those heart strings. I don't know why but I listen to this when I'm alone in the beach, hugging my knees. I end up watching the water while this song is in repeat. I also don't know why but I almost always end up with a heavy feeling in my heart, like I'm an inch away from being sad or depressed. This song makes me want to cry. It's like I'm missing someone even though I've got no one to miss.
The other funny thing about this song, is that it's also good for moments when you're safe and in between arms. I've never tried, but I can imagine sharing a pair of earphones and simply enjoying the presence and warmth of a significant other.
Although made up of extremely simple lyrics, it isn't dumb nor shallow. With the steady percussions, piano and violins, the lyrics only add up to the song's romantic sound.
On my wedding day, this song will be played. I'm sure of it.

Only Got One by Frou Frou

You know that part in the movies where the self absorbed hero suddenly gets an epiphany? That he finally realizes that he really does love the Mary Sue heroine and he jumps/runs over manholes and road signs to get to her, find her?
'Only Got One' by frou frou is the song played at that moment where in he finally finds her and tells her what we, the audience, already know; that he's insanely in love with her.
OGO isn't anything like most of Frou frou's songs. It's not provoking, nor is it too busy. It's pretty much what mellow is in Frou Frou terms; it has got that slow and light mood that is sustained all through out the song, it stays that way even when the drums come in.

Lyrics wise, its written in simple language, but (my interpretation of course) it's clear to me what message the song is trying to send out. It mainly talks about taking life for granted when its not supposed to be that way.
In school they often ask us: which lines struck you the most?
For me, it was the chorus and how the first line was repeated THREE times and sung in a very aloof manner and then followed with a warning:'but you've only got one'. She sums up those nintey minute movies with dragging problematic heros/heroines in two lines.

Wow.

Only Got One (lyrics) by Frou Frou

If this is a question
Is maybe a lie?
If yes doesn't mean it
Does when lessen why
You are held in a queue
Someone will be with you shortly
Say I'm wrong
You decide
I don't believe the words you sing sometimes

But then it's your life
Uh huh, it's your life
It's your life
Uh huh, it's your life

But, you've only got one...

If I just to spite you
Placate your disgrace
Will song turn to silence?
Will mask wear your face?
Are you down to be open?
Show me yours and I'll show you mine
Or are you down just to be down?
I don't believe the words you sing sometimes

But then it's your life
Uh huh, it's your life
It's your life
Uh huh, it's your life

But, you only got one

You've only got...one...

First kisses: Past and Language by Toe

The rays of confidence that shine through the adolescent hesitation, the willingness, the initiative. That's the intro to a first kiss with anyone. That's what I imagine with Toe's Past and Language. It's a first kiss song.
The first fifteen seconds of the song; sweet, steady but if you pay attention, you'll hear the slight tapping of the snare, the drums. The first fifteen seconds represent boy and girl pulling towards each other, with their faces getting closer, eyes drooping carefully.
On the thirtieth second, the song stops. The same way our heart stops when our lips meet another's. We recover from the shock quickly, as the song resumes almost instantly, we steady our hearts, and kiss and kiss and kiss. Slowly, carefully; we don't rush it. Boy and girl are careful with every move, afraid and trying to get comfortable.
Of course, after a minute and thirty, you and the song, come to realize that the presence of our lips is wanted. We take a deeper plunge in to things, take bigger risks. The feeling escalates, becomes more epic.
Two o seven, the song slows down, becomes weaker but then comes back stronger than before. Its that ecstatic feeling of the the aftermath, its everything and nothing that makes you happy. The sort of feeling that you just want to let it all out but around 3:24, you get back your cool and just enjoy the amazing night next to that person, because you finally feel wanted and loved.
The song lingers on, until it ends, carrying with it that happiness that you feel and you finally at that exact time, you find that moment to breathe again.

Look for it, and tell me what you see. :)
